CODA was established on the 21st April 1997, as a pilot project, to provide information and support to parents and carers of young people involved in drug related activities and mental health issues. Since then CODA has evolved to meet the needs and demands of an ever changing community by providing training in the areas of Mental Health awareness, Sexual Health, Personal Development, Counseling skills and many many more…. Aims & Objectives CODA's Aims - To be an organisation that works in partnership with community, voluntary and statutory organisations to provide training, support and information.
- To promote healthier lifestyles by providing community empowerment and ownership of programmes by developing local community networks.
- Have a Management Committee, of whom 50 % will be community representatives
CODA's Objectives - To encourage and support community members to take greater responsibility for tackling drug and alcohol abuses by provding education and training.
- Involve community representatives in the delivery of drug education and awareness of services to their peers and to young people.
- To raise awareness through the provision of relevant drug and substance information to local communities.
- Provide referral, and a signposting service when required, to other relevant agencies.
CODA is a registered company, limited by guarantee and has a Board of directors, half of whom are community representatives from groups that CODA has worked with.Download the 2006 CODA Evaluation Report
